60 Vehicle Pileup Shut Down Wisconsin’s I-41 For 6 Hours

Published:

Yesterday a chain-reaction crash in Wisconsin involving more than 60 vehicles shut down portions of I-41 during winter weather conditions.

The pileup began just before 11 a.m. near Slinger.

According to police, 30 vehicles including 11 trucks were directly involved in a pileup crash in the southbound lanes of the interstate. Thirty more vehicles were forced off the interstate to avoid the initial crash.

Five people were taken to the hospital for treatment of non life threatening injuries.

The investigation into the crash is still ongoing and could take weeks to complete, but the Washington County Sheriff’s Office noted that drivers were going too fast on snowy roads in near white-out conditions.

The southbound lanes of I-41 were closed for more than 6 hours for cleanup and removal of damaged vehicles.
