A Force for Good: Trucking company stands out by promoting positivity

Published:

In a trucking industry that sometimes feels inundated with bad news, one trucking company has set itself apart by focusing on the good.

Transport America has carved out a unique niche in the trucking industry by focusing on helping military veterans, providing a supportive environment for female drivers, and paying attention to the little things that make a big difference in their drivers’ day to day lives. And they’ve done a great job of using social media to highlight the ways that they are #changingtrucking, using photography, video, and blog posts to highlight the accomplishments of their drivers and to give them the dignity that they deserve.

Showing Gratitude To Our Nation’s Veterans

Transport America has devoted serious resources to supporting military veterans through the Wreaths Across America program, which honors fallen soldiers by placing wreaths at their graves. This month, teams of military veterans — and current Transport America drivers — drove a truckload full of wreaths to their final destination at Long Island National Cemetery in New York.

During an Minnesota stop, the TA truckers had a touching moment with the mother of a U.S. soldier.

Here, you can see a poignant photo from the wreath laying ceremony on December 16.

The way that TA has worked to honor the sacrifice of fallen veterans has given many current drivers a sense of pride about the company that they work for.

The folks at Transport America also offer veterans the chance to participate in an apprenticeship program that smooths the transition from the military to a career in trucking.

Women Truckers For The Win

At Transport America, 17% of company drivers are female — a stunning 3 times the industry average.

Take a look at the YouTube video below to hear the women of TA talk about their experiences with the company.

Little Acts Of Kindness

One other way that Transport America is making a name for itself in the trucking community is by focusing on the little things. For example, TA support manager Darrin Corbin went so far as to home cook an entire Thanksgiving dinner — including homemade, not from a can, cranberry sauce — in order to say thanks to drivers who couldn’t be with their families on the holiday.

Sharing The Love On Social Media

Perhaps the most significant thing that makes Transport America stand out from the crowd is the way that they have used social media to build a community among their drivers. TA uses social media to tell the story of their company and their drivers in a way that portrays trucking in the best possible light.

TA’s drivers have also taken to using social media to talk about how they appreciate the way that their company treats them.

Transport America has been in business since 1984 and they operate throughout the United States and in some parts of Canada and Mexico. They offer over the road, dedicated, and local truck driving positions.
