The crash happened just before 6 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-5 at the Viaduct Bridge.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a truck driver was attempting to merge onto northbound I-5 from the Crosstown Freeway, at the same time that a pickup truck was attempting to exit the interstate onto Pershing Avenue.
The trucker swerved to avoid crashing into the pickup truck and his rig wound up going through the center divide and coming to a stop hanging off of the I-5 overpass.
The truck driver managed to make his way out of the dangling truck. He wasn’t seriously injured but was taken to the hospital for treatment.
