One truck driver was killed and another was seriously hurt during a crash involving three semi trucks on eastbound I-80 near Joliet, Illinois, this morning.
According to the Illinois State Police, the crash occurred just after 6 a.m on I-80 near Larkin Avenue.

Police say that one FedEx truck was broken down on the shoulder of the interstate near mile marker 121. Another FedEx truck was also parked on the shoulder near the broken down truck as the driver attempted to assist.
A third semi truck crashed into the FedEx trucks on the shoulder.
All three trucks caught fire as a result of the crash.

One of the FedEx truck drivers was killed as a result of the crash. His or her identity has not been released.

The cab of the third truck that caused the crash was totally engulfed in flames. The driver of that truck survived but was taken to the hospital for treatment of severe burns.
One of the FedEx drivers was not seriously hurt.
Transportation officials say that eastbound I-80 will be shut down for hours for investigation and cleanup of the crash. Serious traffic backups have been reported in the area. Westbound I-80 was also closed down for about an hour but has since reopened.
Traffic is being rerouted onto I-55.
