A twenty-six year old truck driver died out on the road on Monday after a tooth infection spread to his lungs.
Driver Vadim Kondratyuk Anatoliyevich was reportedly experiencing pain from a toothache when he left Truckee two weeks ago on a run to New York.
Anatoliyevich stopped to visit a dentist in Oklahoma. He was prescribed antibiotics and was feeling better, according to his wife Nataliya.
After reaching New York and then turning around to head home to California, the infection flared up again and Anatoliyevich found himself feeling too ill to drive.
Anatoliyevich’s brother drove out to New York to bring him home. By this time, Anatoliyevich was having trouble breathing and standing because of the tooth infection.
By the time Anatoliyevich was checked into a Utah hospital, it was too late. He spent four days in the hospital, but antibiotics weren’t working and the infection spread to his lungs. Doctors were unable to save his life.
Anatoliyevich’s wife Nataliya made it to the hospital in time to say goodbye.
The 26 year old leaves behind two young children.
