A twenty-one year old man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly flagged down a truck driver on the highway and then robbed him at gunpoint.
The robbery happened at Interstate 10 and Highway 397 in Lake Charles, Louisiana, on Friday at 2:20 a.m.
The truck driver told police that a man in a black Dodge Charger flagged him down to let him know that a piece of metal was hanging off of his rig. The trucker said that when he got out to examine his truck, the man in the Charger pulled out a gun and demanded all of the driver’s money.
The trucker was able to escape and got a ride with a passing motorist to a nearby casino. He said he saw the suspect enter the cab of his truck before he left the scene.
Using security video, police were able to identify and arrest Ronald J. Perrault III, 21, at his place of employment later in the day. They found the victim’s phone in Perrault’s pocket.
Perrault is facing charges of armed robbery, armed robbery with a firearm and criminal property damage, and possession of marijuana. He is being held on a $457,000 bond.
