A Pennsylvania man is facing serious charges after he allegedly threatened a female truck driver with a firearm outside of a Swift terminal.
The incident happened on Sunday evening on Route 72 in Union Township. A 51 year old North Carolina-based truck driver had recently left the Swift terminal when she was confronted by a man in a pickup truck behind her in an apparent road rage incident. Pennsylvania State Police say that 45 year old Robert L. Mays Jr. exited his pickup and aimed a firearm at the truck driver.
A Pennsylvania State Trooper happened to be in the area and witnessed part of the road rage incident. Police say that Mays was extremely intoxicated when he was arrested soon after the incident, with a BAC level of 0.246 percent. He admitted to threatening the truck driver with a firearm.
No injuries were reported.
Mays was charged with DUI, possessing instruments of a crime, simple assault, terroristic threats, harassment, disorderly conduct, and carrying a firearm without a license. He was also issued lesser charges on numerous traffic violations. His bail was set at $10,000.
