The incident happened on I-55 on Monday, November 13.
In video captured by motorist Sanel Pilipovic, you can see the sideways car trapped against the grill of the tanker truck as it is pushed along the interstate. Pilipovic told KMOV, “This was really serious. He did not stop for at least half a mile. I mean he could have killed the guy.”
In the video, you can see the truck moving onto an exit ramp, where it eventually leaves the car behind.
Pilipovic stopped to help the frightened car driver, who he said was frozen inside the car. He said, “I started yelling at the guy to get out of the car. I thought the car was going to catch fire. All four tires were flat, the car was messed up from every side. I mean everything was totaled. He looked scared. I knew he was scared and stuff because of what happened. I know he did not know what was going on. I am sure he was lost.”
The car driver did not suffer any serious injuries.
Police are investigating the incident. Pilipovic told KMOV that the truck driver did not know how the incident occurred. It isn’t clear whether police have been able to locate and talk to the truck driver.
