Oregon State Police Searching For Motorist Who Forced Trucker Off The Road

Oregon State Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a car driver involved in a hit and run crash that left a truck driver injured.

The crash happened on August 30 around 1:30 p.m. on Highway 101 between Wheeler and Rockaway Beach.

Car Passing In No Passing Zone Forces Truck Off The Road Into Trees

Sixty-five year old truck driver Patrick Steinauer was hauling two trailers loaded with lumber on Highway 101. According to OSP, “The suspect vehicle was northbound passing in a no passing zone in the southbound lane. In an attempt to avoid the collision, Steinauer, drove off the road, over railroad tracks and into trees. The suspect vehicle continued northbound and did not stop.

OSP Looking For Suspect Who Forced Trucker Off The Road

Steinhauer was later transported to the hospital for treatment of non life threatening injuries.

OSP Asks For Public’s Help In Locating Suspect

OSP describes the suspect vehicle as “a late 70’s, lifted, white or cream color, Chevy pick-up truck”. The suspect motorist is described as a young male with dark hair.

OSP is asking for assistance from the public in the investigation into the hit and run crash. Anyone who spots a vehicle fitting the given description or anyone who might have dash cam video of the crash is asked to contact investigators at 503-842-2899.
