Lanie Obrien, 49, was driving a 2017 Hyundai Elantra west on Route 124 in the area of Shaker Brook at around 1:10 p.m. when a 1998 Dodge pickup truck, driven by Peter B. Thomas, 86, of Dublin struck the Hyundai from behind, New Hampshire State Police said in a news release.
State police also reported, “The collision caused the Hyundai to cross into the eastbound lane of Route 124 and collide with a Eastern Propane Gas Inc. 2010 Kenworth tanker being operated by Christopher S. Tucker, Age 45, Greenville, NH.”
After the tanker was hit, it began to roll onto the side. Thankfully the tank was only partially full because after rolling, the tank began to leak. The leak was quickly contained and secured.
Route 124 closed and nearby residents were evacuated from their homes for safety reasons.
O’Brien, the driver of the Hyundai Elantra, sustained serious injuries as a result of the accident. The drivers of both the pickup truck and propane truck were uninjured.
The contributing causes of this accident are still under investigation.
