The crash took place just after 1 p.m. in Callahan County.
Police say that Kimberly Belinda Carrillo, 46, was driving a BMW east on I-20 near mile marker 314 when the fatal crash occurred.
A westbound semi driven by a 42 year old man from Georgia underwent a tire blowout, causing the truck to jackknife and to crash through a cable barrier into the eastbound lanes of I-20.
The semi struck Carrillo’s BMW and then came to a stop. The BMW came to rest in a bar ditch.
Emergency responders performed CPR on Carillo and transported her to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries. She later died in the hospital.
