A group of students at a high school in Maine are planning to show truckers some appreciation this Thanksgiving by putting together “TrucksGiving” care packages for drivers who are out on the road for the holiday.
Students Distribute Care Packages To Truckers On The Road For Thanksgiving
Members of the National Honor Society at Edward Little High School in Auburn have been hard at work putting together more than 100 gift bags that they plan to distribute to drivers who are spending their Thanksgiving out on the road. The students will be surprising truckers by distributing the bags at nearby truck stops this afternoon and on Thanksgiving morning.

The bags include homemade cookies, a baseball cap, toothpaste, bottled water, and handwritten notes from the students expressing their gratitude for the truck drivers who sacrifice time with their families on the holiday to keep America rolling.

One of the notes tucked into the bags read:
Dear Trucker,
We appreciate your hard work! Here are some goodies to keep you fueled up for the long haul!

TrucksGiving is an annual event in Auburn.
Here’s what one trucker had to say about last year’s TrucksGiving: “I just wanted to say thank you all. I was in Aurburn Maine today in a small truck stop getting some lunch and when I returned to my truck, I found a bag full of goodies. I wasn’t having a good day before that, but your gifts gave me no choice but to have a change of attitude. Bless you all.”
