Crash Leaves Truckers Buried Under A Mountain Of Cabbage

Published:

Police say that two people are lucky to be alive after a Friday morning crash in South Carolina left them buried under mounds of cabbage.

The crash happened just before 6:30 a.m. on I-95 in Colleton County.

According to investigators, a semi hauling cabbage was traveling north along the interstate when it collided with a bridge. The collision sent the truck off of the interstate onto an embankement, where it struck several trees before coming to a stop.

Colleton Country Firefighters noted, “The front of the trailer failed, propelling the load of cabbage onto the cab, destroying the truck and trapping the two occupants.”

Rescuers were forced to dig through hundreds of pounds of cabbage in order to reach the truck driver and his passenger.

Both of the truck occupants were seriously hurt in the crash but are recovering.
