A stretch of Oregon railway is out of service until further notice after a dump truck with a raised bed crashed into it yesterday.

Dump Truck Driver Tries To Pass Under Train Trestle With Raised Bed

The crash happened around 11:30 near Hillsboro in Washington County.

According to a release from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, a V & K Construction dump truck attempted to pass under a train trestle with the bed at least partially raised. The raised bed struck the train trestle, causing “significant damage to the railway and dump truck.”

The dump truck driver suffered minor injuries during the crash.

Truck Driver Cited For Railroad Trestle Strike

Police cited the dump truck driver for violating posted use limits, careless driving, and no seat belt.

Both the railway and Northwest Helvetia Road from Northwest Grossen Drive to NW Dierdorff Road are closed until further notice.
