Burt Reynolds To Auction Off “Bandit” Trans-Am

Published:

If you’ve ever wanted to own your own Burt Reynolds-driven Trans-Am modeled after the one from the iconic movie “Smokey and the Bandit”, you better hightail it to Arizona — pronto.

That’s because Reynolds will reportedly drive a personally-owned 1978 “Bandit” replica Trans-Am onto the auction stage in Scottsdale on Friday. Reynolds has even promised to shake hands with the winning bidder.

This is actually the fourth “Bandit” Trans-Am that Reynolds has placed on the auction block. In December 2014, he sold one of the original promo cars from the film that had been housed in his personal collection for $450,000. A second “Bandit” tribute car only owned by Reynolds for a short time went for $170,000 one year later. A third car never made it into the film but was restored from a Universal Studios junk heap a year after that. It sold for $550,000.

The latest Reynolds-owned Trans-Am was restored and customized by Restore a Muscle Car of Lincoln, Nebraska. The auction listing makes no claims that the car was ever in the film, but the presence of Bo “Bandit” Danville himself is likely to drive up the price.
