Trucker Faces Two Second Degree Murder Charges Following Fatal Crash

Published:

A Missouri truck driver faces second-degree murder charges after statements he made following a fatal crash led authorities to believe that he had crashed intentionally.

Two Killed In Three Vehicle Crash

The crash happened at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday in Seymour, Missouri. A westbound semi driven by 63 year old Clarence Comins was stopped at a traffic light on U.S. 60 with a pickup truck directly behind. A second westbound semi driven by 33 year old Adam Housley crashed into the stopped pickup truck, smashing it into Comins’ semi.

Both occupants of the pickup truck, Tisha Briggs, 48, and Leo Walker, 47, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The truck drivers were not injured in the crash.

Murder Charges Come After Report Of Truck Driver’s Alarming Statements

Yesterday afternoon, the prosecuting attorney in the case elected to file two second-degree murder charges against Housley after disturbing reports of his behavior following the crash.

Housley was reportedly combative with Missouri State Troopers following the crash. As the officers wrestled him to the ground, he allegedly said, “God told me to do it” and “It’s my destiny.

According to the prosecutor’s statement, Housley “made statements that God caused him to do it. He made statements to family indicating he has been homicidal. Defendant’s acts show a disregard for human life and in no way reflected that his acts were accidental.

Witness Claims Suspect Was On Phone Before Crash

A witness told troopers that Housley had been using a cell phone just before the crash. That witness said that he tried to use his CB radio to tell Housley to put down the phone. The same witness told police that Housley never hit the brakes before crashing into the pickup.

A breath test came back negative for alcohol. The results of Housley’s blood test could take weeks or months.

Housley is being held on a $750,000 bond.

The incident is still under investigation.
