North Carolina State Police are asking for the public’s help after a missing stop sign resulted in a fatal tractor trailer vs. passenger vehicle crash on Saturday.
Crash Claims Two Lives, Injures Pregnant Woman
The incident happened on Saturday around 10:30 a.m. in Montgomery County, North Carolina. According to police, Deanna Lorraine Williams and Dekorean Akei Truesdale were in a passenger vehicle with their two children, ages 2 and 3. They were traveling east on Belford Church Road.
At the same time, a semi truck driven by 24 year old Michael Edgeberth Scott was traveling north on Windblow Road. Scott did not see the car until it was too late and crashed into the rear end of the vehicle. The truck then crashed off the road and went through a field before coming to a stop

Both children were pronounced dead at the scene. Williams and Truesdale both suffered non life threatening injuries in the crash. Williams was pregnant at the time of the crash and he unborn baby survived as well.
Scott wasn’t hurt in the crash.
North Carolina State Police Seek Info About Missing Stop Sign
North Carolina State Troopers say that a stop sign on Bedford Church Road went missing some time between 4 p.m. on Friday and 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. They later found the stop sign in the woods and believe that someone hit it and threw it out. Anyone with information on who removed the stop sign is asked to contact the North Carolina State Police.
No one was deemed to be at fault in the crash. The family was from out of town and didn’t know that there should have been a stop sign at the intersection.
The stop sign has been replaced.
