Nebraska Troopers Spring Second Surprise Truck Inspection Blitz In Two Days

Just one day after Nebraska State Police conducted a surprise truck inspection campaign in Lincoln, troopers sprung a second unexpected commercial vehicle inspection blitz in Omaha.

Yesterday’s inspections were conducted with assistance from the Omaha Police Department.

Members from the NSP’s Metropolitan Aggressive and Prevention Selective (MAPS) team conducted 67 semi truck inspections. Of the 67 trucks inspected, 30 were placed out of service for safety violations. Inspectors discovered 198 violations and issued fines totaling $3,950.

During Tuesday’s surprise inspections in Lincoln, 100 trucks were inspected. Forty-one trucks were placed out of service for safety violations and 5 truck drivers were placed out of service for license-related violations.

NSP says that this inspection campaign, like yesterday’s, was designed to target truckers who might normally avoid weigh stations. NSP has other surprise inspections planned throughout the state of Nebraska that will take place from now through the fall.
