Rhode Island police are investigating after a truck hauling a modular home took down power poles and wires when the driver took a wrong turn.
Modular Home Hauling Truck Driver Took A Wrong Turn
The incident happened on Saturday on Harkney Hill Road in Coventry, Rhode Island. Coventry police say that a Bay Crane truck driver was hauling a modular home when his load apparently got caught up on power lines and wound up pulling down power poles.
According to the Coventry Police Department’s John MacDonald, the truck driver left his planned route and then took a wrong turn.
Trucking Company’s Second Recent Incident With Too-Large Load
Late last month, Rhode Island police stopped another Bay Crane truck on I-95 for hauling an 560,000 pound electrical generator without a permit. The truck was impounded in a parking lot in Warwick for two weeks before the Rhode Island Department of Transportation issued an overweight permit for the load and allowed the 16 axle truck to continue on its journey.
Police say that the incidents are unrelated.
