Teen Indicted For Manslaughter For Crash That Killed Trucker

Published:

A Texas teenager has been indicted on manslaughter charges for causing a crash that claimed the life of a truck driver in November.

According to reports, the crash took place on November 3 when seventeen year old Savannah Cardoza drove a vehicle without permission the wrong way on Highway 6 in Waco. Around 3 a.m., she crashed into a passenger vehicle head on.

Truck driver Donald Lawrence Ray, 54, was hauling nonhazardous glycerine ether southbound on Highway 6 when he came upon the initial crash. Detectives say that Ray attempted to avoid hitting the crashed vehicles and hit a guardrail, rolling his truck.

Ray was trapped in his truck and died at the scene.

The two people in the passenger car that Cardoza struck initially were treated for broken bones.

Yesterday Cardoza was formally charged with manslaughter, aggravated assault and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle charges on Wednesday. She is free on a $21,000 bond.
