Truck Falls Off I-75 Bridge In Detroit

A truck driver only suffered moderate injuries when his truck fell 40 feet from the Rouge River Bridge on I-75 in Detroit this morning.

The crash happened around 10 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-75. According to the Michigan State Patrol, the truck driver somehow lost control and struck two other vehicles and then fell off of the bridge. Some reports indicate that the truck jackknifed before the crash.

From MSP’s Lt. Mike Shaw: “Some of the conversation he had with some of the paramedics out there was that he thought he had hit like a patch of ice or something to that extent…and actually it’s not cold enough to have something there. So we’ll interview him some more get some different interviews from the other parties that were involved in the crash, the other two drivers, and we’ll go from there.

The truck driver suffered a broken arm and leg in the crash as well as other non life threatening injuries. Two other people were taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Northbound I-75 was closed for some time for the crash cleanup, but all lanes have since reopened.
