This week Tennessee police arrested a truck driver for allegedly taking apart his 2012 Peterbilt and selling various parts of the truck following a dispute with his employer.
Spat With Trucking Company Owner Leads Driver To Disassemble Rig
According to a report in the Standard Banner, 27 year old truck driver Rusty W. Davis was employed by Texas-based Pro Resources, LLC when he had an argument with the owner of the company. Following that dispute, Davis reportedly took the truck to New Market, Tennessee, and disassembled the truck and sold the many of the parts.
The truck had been reported missing, but the Tennessee Highway Patrol received a tip and instructed the New Market Police Department to follow up. At a shop in Grainger County, police were able to positively identify the truck — now stripped of its engine and transmission — by the VIN number.
New Market Police Chief Raymond Raper stated that, “the truck had been sold to a shop that had no idea it was stolen. The engine and transmission had been sold in Grainger County. We were able to recover the transmission, but the engine had been sold again. We’re still working on the investigation.”
Trucker Faces Serious Charges
Davis was arrested on Tuesday on charges of possession of stolen property, vandalism, and theft of over $60,000. Federal charges are also possible.
The value of the stolen truck with a grain trailer is estimated at $200,000.
