A truck driver was killed in Texas yesterday when his truck veered off of a bridge, crashed through a guardrail to the road below, and then hit an overpass pillar.
The crash happened around 9:30 a.m. in Amarillo.
Truck driver Arnold Delarosa, 48, was hauling truck tires east on the I-40 bridge about 5 miles west of Amarillo when he for some reason lost control of his vehicle.
The truck crashed through the bridge guardrail onto the road below and then hit a cement pillar under the overpass. The truck then caught fire, the burning tires sending up heavy plumes of black smoke.

Delarosa was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fatal crash. Weather is not a suspected factor and no other vehicles were involved.
TxDOT says that westbound I-40 may be closed for months and that the bridge will likely need to be completely replaced.
