Two Dead And Seventeen Injured In School Bus Vs. Truck Crash In Texas

Two people were killed and at least 17 injured in a multi-vehicle crash involving a semi, a school bus, and a passenger vehicle near Talco, Texas, last night.

The crash happened on U.S. 271 around 10:30 p.m. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a school bus carrying members of the Mount Pleasant High School boys track team was traveling south on the highway on the way home from a track meet. The track team’s assistant coach, 30 year old Angelica Beard, was following the bus in a car.

An 18 wheeler in the northbound lanes reportedly crossed over into the southbound lanes. The bus driver swerved to avoid the crash, but the semi still struck the driver’s side of the bus and the car behind it. The crash caused the bus to roll over.

Both Beard and the truck driver were killed in the crash. Another 17 people were transported to the hospital for treatment. Six of those injured are listed in serious condition.

Police are not sure what caused the truck to swerve into oncoming traffic.

The crash is still under investigation.
