Two Truckers Killed In 6 Vehicle Pileup On Pennsylvania’s I-80

Published:

Two truck drivers lost their lives yesterday in an early morning crash involving five semis and one passenger vehicle.

The crash happened at 12:30 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-80 near exit 161.

Police say that the crash began when a semi slid off of I-80 onto the right side of the road.

A second semi was able to stop in time in the right lane to avoid crashing into the first semi.

A third semi crashed into the second truck.

Then a passenger vehicle hit the third truck.

A fourth semi hit a vehicle involved in the pileup and then a fifth semi crashed into the passenger side of the fourth truck.

The drivers of the third and fourth trucks were pronounced dead at the scene. Two other truckers were taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.

The names of the deceased have not yet been released.

One truck was on fire when rescue crews arrived. The fire spread to another truck before firefighters were able to put it out.

The pileup closed down a 12 mile stretch of I-80 until 9:15 p.m.
