Truck discovered hauling $2.1 million in cocaine

A Rosenberg police officer found 156 pounds of cocaine in a tractor-trailer during a traffic stop on Tuesday near Beasley, Texas.

The officer and a K-9 partner quickly found about $2.1 million in cocaine after stopping the truck for a traffic violation. The truck was traveling on U.S. 59 north.

The officer, a member of the Fort Bend County Narcotics Task Force Highway Interdiction Team, found the cocaine in the cargo area, according to the Houston Chronicle.

The truck driver, John Garcia, 39, of Edinburg, was driving towards the east coast when he was intercepted.

Garcia was charged with 2 felony charges – delivery of a controlled substance and unlawful use of a criminal instrument.

Garcia is being held in the Fort Bend County Jail with bond set at $55,000.
