A truck driver lost his life at the Port of Houston today when he struck by a crane.
The accident occurred between 1:30 and 2:00 p.m. at the Barbours Cut container terminal. Police say that the truck driver was standing outside of his rig when he was hit by a rubber tyred gantry crane. A spokesperson for the Port of Houston says that the crane was on land and was not used to move containers onto and off of ships.

No other injuries were reported.
Officers from the Port of Houston Authority, the Houston Police Department, and the La Porte Police Department were on scene to investigate the accident.
The identity of the truck driver has not been released.
The Port of Houston was shut down following the incident.
