Published:

A man was arrested on Tuesday after Port Authority police discovered that he owed more than $71,000 in unpaid E-ZPass tolls and fees.

Truck Pulled Over For E-ZPass Violation On GWB Toll Plaza

Port Authority police were tipped off when a dump truck passed through the upper level toll plaza on the George Washington Bridge in Fort Lee. The E-Z Pass toll indicator flashed that the truck hadn’t paid. Police stopped the truck and soon discovered that there were over 300 open toll violations totaling $36,000 on the E-Z Pass account associated with the truck’s license plate.

Through the E-Z Pass account information, police tracked down the truck’s owner, 68 year old Heriberto Quiroz. They learned that Quiroz had three other delinquent E-ZPass accounts owing another $34,000.

Quiroz was arrested by Port Authority Police and charged with theft of services.

The truck was impounded.
