Truck stolen at gunpoint

Early Sunday morning a man stole a tractor-trailer at gunpoint near Gallatin County, Kentucky.

The truck driver called the police around 1:15 a.m. reporting his truck stolen from the Pilot Truck Stop off of exit 28 in Henry County.

He reported a blue truck traveling north on Interstate 71.

The truck driver told police, a white male climbed into his truck and pointed a gun at him, then drove away in the semi.

Gallatin County Officials found the truck near the 54-mile marker, then followed it to the exit 62 truck plaza. The truck was found parked in the rear lot.

The Gallatin County Sheriff Department, Kentucky State Police and Boone County Sheriff Department surrounded the truck and took the suspect into custody.

The thief, Christopher Pinguely, carried a loaded semi-automatic assault rifle.

The truck driver positively identified the suspect as the person who pointed the gun at him.

Pinguely was charged with armed robbery along with several other charges by the Kentucky State Police.

According to Fox 19 Now, the truck thief was taken to Carroll County Detention Center.
