The truck driver who went over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel earlier today has passed away as a result of his injuries.
The crash happened shortly after noon while winds gusted at speeds of over 40 m.p.h. Several reports indicate that the truck was blown off the bridge.
The truck driver was able to get out of the floating truck and was seen standing on it. He was rescued by a Navy helicopter and it was hoped that he would survive.
Unfortunately, the truck driver passed away en route to the hospital.
His identity has not yet been released.
