A trucker lost his life early yesterday morning in South Dakota when his rig crashed off of an overpass and landed on a car below.
The crash happened at 4:20 a.m. on northbound I-229 in Sioux Falls.
Police say that a 43 year old truck driver for some reason left the interstate and crashed through the guardrail onto Minnesota Avenue below. The falling semi struck a southbound passenger vehicle on Minnesota Avenue.
The truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 23 year old woman driving the passenger vehicle was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
The name of the truck driver has not yet been released.
