Wyoming Banning Oversized and Overweight Loads Due to Solar Eclipse

Published:

Which States Will Be Next?

Along with Nebraska, Wyoming is closing its roads to oversized and overweight loads beginning Sunday, August 20th until Tuesday, August 22nd. No vehicles driving with an oversized and overweight permit will be allowed to enter or travel within the entire state during this time.

Wyoming Is Front and Center to View Eclipse

It is predicted that Wyoming will be a hot spot to view the eclipse not only because of the weather, but also because the highways are generally clear of traffic or visual obstructions. When viewing an eclipse it is very dangerous to look in the direction of the Sun unless it is being covered entirely by the Moon. The eclipse will happen in stages, and in order to view the eclipse in totality it will take special preparation and location.

Greatamericaneclipse.com states, “While Yellowstone National Park is just north of totality, Grand Teton National Park is squarely centered in the eclipse path and will surely be a magnet for eclipse observers.”

The Wyoming Highway Patrol warns about travel congestion particularly on I-25, limited food and fuel, decreased cell phone coverage, and lack of parking. Be sure to plan your trip accordingly!
