“This truck was built in Dublin, Virginia at the Volvo New River Valley Plant on May 9, 2017. MADE IN THE USA!
When I took possession of the truck June 22, 2017, it had 330 miles on it, the exact distance it was hauled from the Virginia plant to our yard at company headquarters in Chattanooga, Tennessee.It has the automatic iShift Transmission with 12 forward gears and 2 reverse. Volvo calls it “An automated manual transmission with digital intelligence”
I can set the cruise control fully loaded and it will drive straight up a 6% grade mountain downshifting and up-shifting as necessary very smoothly and efficiently. It is amazing what this truck can do. It almost drives itself. When coming to a stop or slowing down for an exit you can double tap the jake brake lever and it will downshift through all the gears to get you to the speed you want to be.
When taking off from a stop, when you get to 20 mph, just click resume on the cruise control and it will get you up to speed shifting smooth as silk until you get to the speed you had the cruise set at last. If you team drive the smoothness of this truck will allow your co-driver to sleep like a baby.”
