The FMCSA has shared a training video that they say can help prevent cargo tank truck rollover crashes — and could even save lives.
FMCSA: Most Rollovers Caused By Driver Error
According to the FMCSA, 78% of rollover crashes involve some degree of driver error. While the FMCSA says that driver inattention or drowsiness is to blame for most rollover cargo tank rollover crashes, brake defects and partial liquid loads that slosh and surge are also to blame for many crashes.
The training video features truck drivers who have survived cargo tank rollover crashes and highlights their testimony along with tips that can help drivers to identify the risk factors for rollover crashes so that they can be prevented. The video provides instruction on how to:
–Avoid sudden movements that may lead to rollovers
–Control your load in turns and on straight roadways
–Identify high risk areas on roads
–Remain alert and attentive behind the wheel
–Control speed and maintain proper “speed cushions”
The FMCSA says that watching their video “can save your life—and the lives of others!”
