A suspect who tried to carjack a woman in Michigan yesterday got a little more than he bargained for after a fuel tanker truck driver stepped in and put a stop to the situation.
The incident happened around 1:15 p.m. yesterday in Allen Park. In the surveillance video provided by the Allen Park Police Department, you can see the suspect casually approach a woman as she pumps gas into her car. The suspect gets in on the driver’s side. The woman responds by hopping in on the passenger side of the car, which then speeds off.
In the second part of the video, you can see the tanker truck driver spring into action as the car approaches his truck.
The truck driver told Click on Detroit, “I go up to the side door and she’s fighting with him. I said, ‘Is he trying to steal your car?’ and she says, ‘Yes, he’s trying to steal my car.’ I say, ‘Put in park, put it park’.”
As you watch the video, you can see the truck driver approach the driver’s side door and wrestle with the suspect. The suspect was able to flee on foot, but the woman and her car were safe because of the trucker’s intervention.
No injuries were reported.
