Multiple big rigs burn at Mississippi truck stop

Published:

Several semi trucks caught fire at a truck stop in Jackson, Mississippi, over the weekend.

The blaze began on Saturday afternoon around 3:30 at the Petro truck stop off I-20.

According to witnesses on scene, a flatbed truck’s fuel tank blew up after it caught fire, causing the blaze to spread to a truck hauling grain and a car hauler. Then the fire reportedly spread and damaged five other trucks, leaving a total of eight trucks burned.

Luckily, no injuries were reported.

The fire was live streamed on Facebook by user Larry Osborne. Osborne told local news station WAPT, “We’ve seen many of people get hurt because nobody would say anything. So whenever I came out and saw the truck on fire, I woke up as many people as possible, just trying to help them get to a safe place.”

Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the fire.
