FMCSA: HOS violations are way down with ELDs

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) says that Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) are working — and they’ve created an “informational graphic” to prove it.

The FMCSA’s “Electronic Logging Device Hours Of Service Violation Information Graphic” tracks the percentage of driver inspections that result in at least one Hours of Service (HOS) violation.

From a high of 1.36% in July and August 2017, the percentage steadily dropped after ELDs were rolled out to just .64% in May of 2018.

The FMCSA notes, “Since CVSA Out-of-Service criteria went into effect, less than 1% (4,720) of all driver inspections (559,940) have resulted in the driver being cited for operating without a required ELD or grandfathered AOBRD.”

The FMCSA says that they’ll keep updating the graphic every month. You can click here for more from the FMCSA.
