Fuel tanker explosion kills worker at Utah trucking facility

Authorities say that a fuel tanker explosion is responsible for the death of a diesel mechanic at a trucking facility in Hurricane, Utah, on Monday.

The incident happened at 12:30 p.m. at DATS Trucking Inc.

According to reports, 25 year old diesel mechanic Mike Cooper was replacing a part on a fuel tanker when the tanker suddenly exploded.

Coworkers heard the explosion and went to investigate. They called for help after finding Cooper unconscious.

Cooper was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died as a result of head trauma.

No one else was hurt in the explosion.

Authorities Investigating Cause Of Explosion

The explosion did not cause a fire, but it did result in significant damage to the facility, causing three garage doors to be bent out. The explosion also caused damage to the ceiling of the building.

Investigators are still working to determine what caused the explosion.
