Get a closer look at the only surviving truck from the movie “Duel”

Published:

Find out how North Carolina trucker and classic truck collector Brad Wike became the owner of the last surviving truck used in the iconic trucking horror movie, “Duel.”

According to The Drive, the movie’s original villain, a 1955 Peterbilt 281, was destroyed at the end of the 11 day film shoot. After the movie’s success as a straight to tv feature, the movie studios wanted to give Duel a theatrical release, but at 74 minutes, it was just too short. So, two more trucks, including Wike’s 1961 Peterbilt 351, were created to look just like the original movie truck. Wike’s truck is reportedly the only truck used in the movie that is still in existence — and it still runs!

If you’re interested in seeing what else Wike has in his collection, you can take a look at his Facebook page for more.
