Houston drivers (once again) dodge giant spool in roadway

Published:

For the third time in just a few weeks, drivers in Houston, Texas, have had to swerve to avoid a spool that fell off of a truck.

On the morning of Friday, December 7, a truck hauling a large industrial spool on I-610 in Houston lost its load, sending the spool rolling into moving traffic on the interstate.

ABC 13 reports that the truck driver noticed that he lost his load and pulled over immediately. No one was hurt.

This marks the third spool incident to take place in Houston since this fall.

October 25th, Houston drivers were forced to dodge a large lost spool rolling on I-10.

And on November 12, a trucker hauling two industrial spools lost them as he went under an overpass on I-10, sending the spools out into traffic.

The Texas Department of Transportation says that overheight loads hitting overpasses has become a major problem in Houston.
