Hundreds of trucks hit the road for Make-A-Wish

All for the kids!

Hundreds of trucks hit the road to help children battling critical illnesses in the 29th annual Make-A-Wish Mother’s Day Truck Convoy.

The 26-mile truck convoy took place at Burle Business Park in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania on May 13, 2018.

According to Lancaster Online, it all started with 44 trucks in 1990. Make-A-Wish set a Guinness World Record for the world’s longest convoy in 2003 with 228 trucks, and bested the record again in 2016 with 590 trucks.

Ben Lee, regional director for the local Make-a-Wish Foundation chapter, explains the goal of the convoy.

“This is, first and foremost, a fundraising event, to raise money and provide wishes for children here in the Susquehanna Valley,” Lee said. “The convoy raises funds to cover about 70 percent of all wishes granted here.”
