Drivers were seeing red on a Pennsylvania interstate this morning after a semi truck jackknifed and lost its load.
The incident happened on November 16 around 3 a.m. on eastbound I-70 in West Alexander, Pennsylvania, according to WTOV9.
Police say that the truck jackknifed into a ditch, causing the trailer to detach and roll onto its side.
The truck’s load of powdered red food dye spilled out after the crash, leaving the interstate bright red. The dye is typically used to color candy
The truck driver was taken to the hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.
The crash shut down both directions of I-70 for hours as crews worked to clean up the crimson mess. Major traffic backups were reported.
Pennsylvania State Police are still working to determine why the truck crashed.
