Pedestrian fatally struck by dump truck a Pennsylvania truck stop

A pedestrian lost his life yesterday when he was struck by a dump truck while walking through a lot at Pennsylvania Pilot Travel Center.

The incident happened at 1 p.m. at the Pilot Travel Center off I-79 in Butler County, according to KDKA.

Pennsylvania State Police say that 64 year William Kerr was walking through the parking lot when he was hit by a dump truck that was backing away from a fuel pump. The dump truck knocked Kerr to the ground. The dump truck driver, 75 year old Pittsburgh resident William T. Adams, did not realize that he had hit someone, so he continued backing up over the fallen pedestrian, then drove forward.

Adams was stopped by witnesses to the incident.

Kerr died at the scene. Butler Radio reports that he was also a truck driver.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing. No charges have been filed at this time.
