Yesterday New Mexico State Police announced that they have an active warrant for a teen who was filmed shooting out a semi truck’s driver’s side window in a viral video posted earlier this year.
The New Mexico State Police say that they are seeking information on the whereabouts of eighteen year old Koby Alan Garcia of Seama, New Mexico, after they positively identified him as the person who shot out the truck window with a pellet gun in the video.

On January 18, 2018, New Mexico State Police officers were called to investigate a video posted online showing a male suspect shooting from within a moving vehicle at a moving semi-truck traveling along the interstate. The male suspect shot at the moving semi with a pistol-style pellet gun and shattered the semi-truck’s driver side window. Additionally, the video showed minors who were also participating inside the suspect’s vehicle during the commission of the crime. Through investigation, State Police were able to successfully identify both the victim and the suspect shown in the video.
The victim told State Police that on January 7, 2018 around noon he was driving his fully loaded semi-truck eastbound on Interstate 40 near Unser Boulevard in Albuquerque when a gray pickup drove beside him and fired pellets into the front driver side window. The window shattered, and pieces of glass flew into the cab of the truck. The victim’s wife, who was sitting in the passenger seat of the semi-truck called police. The suspect vehicle fled the scene and the victim was unable to get a license plate number. The victim reported the incident to local police. However, the suspects were never located at that time.
Garcia has been charged with several crimes including Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon, Tampering with Evidence, Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, and Criminal Damage to Property.
Police say that Garcia has relatives in Roswell and goes to Grants High School. He drives an off-white 2004 Mitsubishi Galant with New Mexico license plate “JTH 022” and a Texas Tech “TT” emblem on the lower right side of the trunk, according to police.
Investigators suspect that Garcia has committed similar crimes against other motorists and encourages any other victims to come forward. Anyone with information on Garcia is asked to call the New Mexico State Police office in Grants at (505) 287-4377 or email Captain Eric Schum at [email protected].
