Ohio State Police: Road rage leads to fatal fiery three vehicle crash

A truck driver was taken to the hospital following a crash caused by two road raging motorists.

Ohio State Police said that road rage was “absolutely” involved in a three vehicle crash that killed one driver and roasted a tractor trailer yesterday.

Motorist Michael Hayden of Newark, Ohio was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers reported he was not wearing a seat belt.

Deadly Road Rage

The incident happened on State Route 37 eastbound at State Route 16 around 3:47 p.m. in Licking County Ohio when a 2015 GMC Canyon driven by 58-year-old Larry Madden, of Heath, Ohio and a 1993 Acura CL driven by 38-year-old Hayden collided during a fit of road rage, troopers said.

Investigators said both drivers sped passed numerous vehicles at a high rate of speed before collided with a cross-over cable barrier. Madden crashed into a raised bank and stopped. He was unharmed.

Hayden continued on and crossed the westbound lane crashing into a 2013 Mack 600 tractor trailer driven by 65-year-old Richard Davis of Coshocton, leaving both vehicles engulfed in flames. Davis was taken to Licking Memorial Hospital.
