The American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI) is asking truckers for information on how detention time impacts their day-to-day driving experiences.
On September 5, the ATRI announced the launch of an online survey designed to study how excessive detention time impacts driver safety, productivity, and hours of service regulation compliance.
The ATRI also collected data on commercial driver detention time at this year’s Great American Truck Show, but they say that the online survey will allow a greater number of truck drivers to provide feedback.

A 2016 study on driver detention time by DAT Solutions found that most truck drivers report detention times of three hours or more.
