Police: Tanker truck driver caught drugged driving twice in one day

Published:

A Massachusetts tanker truck driver has been arrested after he was caught driving under the influence of drugs twice within six hours, according to police.

Fifty year old Kenneth Davis of Foxborough has been charged with two counts of driving under the influence in Everett, Massachusetts, yesterday.

From a news release from the Everett Police Department:

“At 8:06 am, Patrolman Patrick Johnston responded to Ashland and Beacham Street for a report of a non-responsive truck driver slumped over the wheel. The driver was operating a gasoline tanker truck combination. The officer removed the key from the vehicle and attempted to determine responsiveness of the operator. Patrolman Joseph Gaff from the Everett Police Department Commercial Truck Traffic Enforcement Unit arrived on scene and placed the truck driver out of service. The driver was transported to the CHA Everett for treatment of a possible narcotic overdose. A complaint was sought for Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Drugs.

At 2:25 pm, Patrolman Patrick Johnston and Patrolman Joseph Gaff responded to 67 Beacham Street for a report of a head on collision. On arrival, the officers encountered the same operator from the earlier incident. The operator appeared to be under the influence of a narcotic substance. He was allegedly operating a Chevy Monte Carlo and drifted over the line into oncoming traffic causing the collision.”

David was arrested without incident.

Everett Police Chief Steven A. Mazzie said, “I’m glad we were able to respond and prevent this individual that was operating a truck with dangerous cargo from causing more serious harm. Impaired drivers are a real concern to all of us and we encourage the public to report anyone they believe is impaired and is operating a vehicle.”
