Tennessee man killed when runaway semi truck hits house

A Nashville man lost his life last night when a truck without a driver rolled away and crashed into the man’s home.

The incident occurred on Thursday, October 25, around 4:15 p.m. on Cherokee Avenue in east Nashville, Tennessee, according to The Tennessean.

Police say that 46 year old David Davis was sitting on his porch at the time of the crash. Meanwhile, a truck owned by Jarrett Construction was being loaded up with construction equipment when it began to roll away down a sloped drive. Police say that one man saw the truck begin to roll away and ran to try to catch up with it, but was unable to do so.

The truck then crashed into Davis’s home, killing him.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the incident and will do an inspection on the truck to try to determine why it rolled away.
