North Carolina Rep. Mark Walker said that one person was ejected from the garbage truck during the crash.
One of the people in the garbage truck was killed in the crash and at least one other person sustained serious injuries. It isn’t clear whether the person killed was driving the truck at this time.
None of the lawmakers or train crew were seriously hurt.
There were 3 people in the truck that was straddling the track and which the train hit. One is dead. One I am told is being transported but has minor injuries. One has serious injuries—please pray. Laura & I & multiple other physicians tended to the patients until EMTs showed up. https://t.co/qAmoofxakV
