Police on search for semi truck that struck light pole, window

Hallowell, Maine Police said they are investigating an incident involving a tractor-trailer Thursday Morning that was caught on camera.

Building Damaged

Officers say the truck was driving down Winthrop Street around 5 a.m., when it hit a snowbank while trying to turn right onto Water Street. The truck also hit a light pole, knocking it into the window of a building. Police say the truck then took off, but the whole thing was captured on a nearby surveillance camera.

The incident occurred near Berry’s real estate business and a basement bar called the Easy Street Lounge. The first floor of the building is vacant, but residents upstairs heard the crash. No one in the building was hurt.

Officers are trying to identify the truck and driver. They say the light pole costs about $5,000. Police say the driver could be charged with a misdemeanor for leaving the scene of an accident.
